Vidhainel

Who we are

🌾 விதைநெல் ('Vidhainel') is a community interest organisation registered in England and Wales. Our aim is to promote traditional values through language, music, arts and drama, organise community gatherings, social events and work with other organisations for the betterment of the community.

🌾 'Vidhainel' is a Tamil word for paddy seeds. Sowing good deeds in our children's minds is a stepping-stone towards the preservation of our culture. Learning about their culture influences the children’s beliefs, behaviour and deeds which they should then pass on to the next generation. 

🌾 This vibrant community, started as a WhatsApp group in 2016 with the name 'Orpington Tamil Sangam', which later changed to 'Vidhainel'. This community now covers Orpington, Chelsfield, Pettswood and near-by areas. 

What we do

• Provide Tamil lessons for the younger generation

• Teach traditional Tamil musical instruments for all ages

• Support other local community organisations through volunteering

• Organise social events for the community to showcase their talents

• Provide a platform to promote businesses
